About Us Herald Grassroots Ministries is a subsidiary of Herald Cares, Inc. (originally Herald International, Inc.) We strive to serve and evangelize to all Chinese grassroots communities. We were founded in June of 2002. Approximated 45% of Chinese immigrants in America belong to grassroots communities. They work hard, but with low level of education, their lives sometimes could be difficult. Most of all, they have never heard of the Gospel. Many of them gave up on higher education at a young age and jumped to the routine of working. They might have more experience regarding life and the world, but they are also more prone to challenges from psychological depression and temptations. And because many parents in this type of community work long hours outside of house, the children are easily tempted and lack the belongingness of a family. Jesus said: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor" (Luke 4:18-19). For this reason, Herald Grassroots Ministries is established to evangelize the Gospel to the grassroots communities, help them conquer the temptations and enjoy the bliss and everlasting peace from our Lord Jesus Christ. Base on God's words Provide for the grassroots community Nurture care and expand ministry Train missionary leaders In 1995, Contra Costa Gospel Church from California, USA organized a short-term mission trip to Finland. During the trip, the missionaries visited the local Chinese restaurants to evangelize the Gospel because that is where majority of Chinese community were. While standing in the streets of a city in Finland, some sisters from the trip felt that they could carry on the same mission in America. Therefore, upon their return to California, they embarked on the mission of evangelizing by paying visits to their local Chinese restaurants. In June 2002, Herald Restaurant Gospel Ministries was formally founded to encourage and support the establishment of local ministries all over California and other states. In the past decade through nurturing, support and prayers from many churches and other Christian organizations, we have now established and maintained many restaurant fellowships across the San Francisco Bay Area. Every week from Monday to Friday there are always a gathering or small group in session, helping the members seeking God. And to accommodate the career changes of some restaurant workers, in August of 2011, we have decided to update our mission and name to "Herald Grassroots Ministries" to further advance in reaching out to the communities unheard of the Gospel. We believe in the Apostles Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ; His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Holy Christian Church; The communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen. |
